Soul Retrieval & Journey Work

What is soul retrieval?

Soul retrieval is an ancient healing technique that originates from various indigenous and shamanic traditions. It is based on the belief that a person’s soul can become fragmented or lost due to traumatic experiences, emotional distress, or other forms of spiritual imbalance. The practice of soul retrieval aims to locate and reintegrate these fragmented aspects of the soul, promoting healing and restoring a sense of wholeness.

When a person undergoes a traumatic experience, a part of their soul may separate or dissociate from the core self as a protective mechanism. This can result in feelings of emptiness, disconnection, or a loss of vitality. Soul retrieval is viewed as a means to reclaim and reintegrate these lost soul fragments, allowing individuals to recover their sense of self, vitality, and spiritual well-being.

The process of soul retrieval is performed by a shaman or a practitioner with training in these techniques. The practitioner enters an altered state of consciousness, often through drumming, chanting, or other methods, and journeys to the spiritual realms to locate and retrieve the lost soul fragments. Once the fragments are found, they are welcomed back and reintegrated into the person’s being.

Soul retrieval is often considered a sacred and transformative experience, and it is believed to facilitate deep healing on multiple levels – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It can help individuals regain a sense of purpose, self-empowerment, and a renewed connection to their authentic selves.

What are the benefits of soul retrieval?

  • Feeling more focused and orderly
  • Feeling more present, alive, and lighter
  • Able to set boundaries
  • Increased feelings of self-worth and self-esteem.
  • More in touch with your feelings
  • Feeling more powerful as an individual
  • Boosted energy levels
  • Increased Libido
  • Things seem more “real”
  • Greater richness of “being”
  • Heightened awareness and spirituality
  • Being able to let go of the past and negative feelings like resentment and abandonment
  • Lives are turned around
  • People look and feel younger, more radiant and in control
  • You are open and receptive to new career opportunities and relationships
  • You are to remember your dreams more vividly
  • Some people who were ill and depleted of energy, find their symptoms disappear and have a renewed zest for life.
  • Often Soul retrieval is like a ‘coming back home to yourself’ experience, and over the coming weeks and months after receiving soul parts, new patterns of behavior emerge to replace the old ones which often just spontaneously fall away, as do symptoms of illness, and the client seems generally more ‘at home’ and complete within themselves.

One can never predict the outcome, however, because the experience differs from individual to individual. Some people say that they did not experience anything at all, and months later, suddenly realize that in one way or another, their lives have improved for the better. You may feel great surges of wonderful energy as the “lost soul parts return” and feel energetic, and full of life. When “lost soul parts return” you may feel warm, tingling sensations in different parts of your body. This is a lovely feeling that may continue long after the session is complete.  Some people develop clairvoyance and healing abilities after a past life exploration/soul retrieval journey.

When shouldn’t one do a soul retrieval journey?

While soul retrieval can be a transformative and healing practice, there are certain situations or conditions where it may not be recommended or appropriate to engage in a soul retrieval journey. Here are a few instances in which caution should be exercised:

  • Unstable Mental Health: If an individual is currently experiencing severe mental health issues, such as acute psychosis, severe depression, or other conditions that require immediate professional attention, it is important to prioritize their mental well-being. In such cases, it is advisable to seek appropriate medical or therapeutic support before considering soul retrieval or any other alternative healing practices.
  • Recent Trauma or Grief: If a person has recently experienced a traumatic event or is going through an intense grieving process, it may be beneficial to allow sufficient time for healing and integration before embarking on a soul retrieval journey. It is crucial to respect the natural process of healing and give oneself the necessary time and support to stabilize emotionally and mentally.
  • Lack of Preparation or Guidance: Soul retrieval is a sacred and powerful practice that often requires the support of a trained practitioner who has expertise in facilitating these journeys. It is advisable not to attempt a soul retrieval journey without proper preparation, guidance, and understanding of the process. Working with an experienced practitioner can help ensure a safe and supportive environment for the journey.
  • Lack of Readiness or Consent: Each individual’s journey is unique, and not everyone may feel ready or willing to engage in soul retrieval. It is essential to honor one’s own readiness and consent. Pressuring oneself or feeling compelled by external influences to undergo soul retrieval when not fully prepared or willing can hinder the effectiveness of the process.

When is a good time for someone to seek out a soul retrieval journey?

When one is:

  • Feeling disconnected or fragmented: If you often feel like you’re missing a part of yourself, experience a sense of emptiness or disconnection, or have difficulty accessing your emotions or personal power, it might be an indication that a soul retrieval journey could be beneficial.
  • Traumatic experiences: Soul loss can occur as a result of significant traumatic events, such as abuse, accidents, loss of a loved one, or any experience that overwhelms your ability to cope. If you have experienced trauma and feel like a part of yourself is stuck in the past or detached from the present, a soul retrieval journey may help you integrate those fragmented aspects of yourself.
  • Repeating patterns and unresolved issues: If you find yourself caught in repetitive negative patterns, such as toxic relationships or self-sabotaging behaviors, it could be an indication that there are unresolved aspects of yourself that need healing and integration. A soul retrieval journey can support you in uncovering and addressing these underlying issues.
  • Feeling a deep longing for purpose and meaning: If you have a persistent sense of longing for something more, a desire to find your life’s purpose, or a yearning to reconnect with your authentic self, a soul retrieval journey can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and spiritual growth.
  • Intuition and inner guidance: Trusting your intuition and inner guidance is crucial when considering a soul retrieval journey. If you feel a strong inner calling or intuitive pull towards this type of healing work, it’s worth exploring further.

Possible side effects of past life/soul retrieval journeys

  • Occasionally a client may experience a “healing crisis” (a temporary worsening of symptoms), before relief is obtained.  They might feel sensitive, irritable, or very tired for the first 24 hours.  Sometimes these symptoms can last for up to a week but will gradually diminish.
  • Avoid confrontations, busy supermarkets, crowds etc for the next 24 hours, because you may feel fragile and very sensitive after your session. Sounds, smells, lights, and tastes may become exaggerated for a while.
  • Dreams may become more vivid and people who may never have remembered their dreams before may be able to do so now.
  • Some individuals experience increased bladder or bowel activity, this simply means that they are “clearing” old emotional issues, which is a positive sign.
  • It is quite normal for people to start crying during or after a past life / soul retrieval session, as old, blocked emotions well to the surface.  This is usually a welcome release of pent-up emotion that has lain buried for many, many years, and is part of the healing process.
  • Sometimes people feel disorientated or detached after the session. Make sure you have a coarse salt or Epsom salts bath after your session (do not add soap or anything else to the water) and repeat daily until the feeling of being detached diminishes.
  • Sometimes people develop a “detoxification” headache.  This is because they may have been carrying a lot of stress in their bodies prior to the session and a lot of toxins have become trapped in their body.  When they relax completely during the journey, all the muscles, organs, liver etc, relax and toxins are then released into the blood stream and a headache develops.  It is important, therefore, to drink plenty of tap water, not ice water, for the next 24 hours.
  • Some people feel very sleepy. This is a healing sleep which helps the “lost aspects of self” to re-integrate.
  • In rare cases, memories my come flooding back, this can last anything up to two weeks.
  • In very rare cases, some people may experience a temporary depression after a soul retrieval/past life exploration, which may last for up to 48 hours. This is all part of the healing and clearing process. It’s like closing a tap, there is always a trickle of water that slowly dries up afterwards.
  • After a past life exploration/soul retrieval, you may feel as though you are on an emotional roller coaster for a few days. This is very rare but once this passes you will feel wonderful.

Soul retrieval occurs at the spiritual level of your being.  Be aware that during the time that follows soul retrieval and its integration, your mental, emotional, and physical levels will also be affected as the four levels are all connected.  Memories may appear (mental), you may or may not feel sadness or joy (emotional), or you might experience a headache or relief from pain (physical).

A sacred process that helps recover parts of your energy or essence lost through trauma or emotional pain.

Sessions can be done in person or remotely. The practitioner can either travel on behalf of the client or facilitate the clients journey. Traditionally, the shaman lies down next to the client and plays the frame drum to assist in journeying to other realms to retrieve the soul part. Or when facilitating the journey for the client the client will be put into a trance state through visualisation, breathwork and other techniques, and  once in an altered state the practitioner takes them on a journey for their subconscious to assist them in uncovering the roots of the intention set before the journey begins. This is similar to a guided meditation.
